Shelton Family Lineage:

Thomas or Peter Shelton, the patriarch of the Shelton family, departed from Scotland before 1761 & settled in Virginia. It is unclear just when he married Ms. Elizabeth Lawson, though some sources state her name as Frances Nicholes, & no one seems to know just how many children they had. It's possible both Elizabeth and Frances were his wives, as he lived to be 85, a ripe old age at the time.
